Features / Characteristics

• Permanent retention is significantly enhanced by using 8-strand soft, flat braided wire. This thin lingual retainer wire prevents torque control issues that can occur with round braided wires in these procedures.

• When bonded to the lingual surfaces of the upper incisors, the very thin rectangular wire can be applied with minimal interference from the lower incisors.

• Soft dead-braided wire is highly adaptable and helps prevent unwanted tooth movement associated with active force wires.

• Bond-A-Braid is ideal for semi-permanent retention of upper or lower incisors. It can maintain closed diastema, stabilize extraction spaces, and address other challenging retention scenarios.

• Excellent for retaining teeth affected by periodontal conditions.

• Wire size: Metric: 0.673 mm (w) x 0.268 mm (h) / Imperial: 0.02645 in (w) x 0.01055 in (h).

• Not recommended for patients with nickel allergies.

Instructions for Use

1. Tooth Preparation: Clean teeth with 1st & Final pumice. Rinse and dry. Sandblast the lingual surface of the teeth. Etch each enamel surface for 30 seconds. Rinse and dry thoroughly.

2. Bonding: Apply a layer of Assure Plus bonding resin to each etched tooth, then apply a second thin, even coat. Lightly air-dry.

3. Wire Placement:

   • Cut a length of Bond-a-Braid wire as desired. Bend both ends 45° toward the gingiva, about 2–3 mm, to lock the wire in place and prevent slippage.

   • Position the retainer wire along the lingual/gingival aspect of the teeth using a flat plier, gently forming a curve to match the lingual surface.

   • Use dental floss to hold the wire against the lingual surface. Press the wire firmly to ensure maximum contact and proper adhesion.

Note: When using Bond-A-Braid or Retainium® on teeth 1-1 or 2-2, it is recommended to combine an internal thermoplastic retainer with the Bond-A-Braid / Retainium® wire for optimal results. Bond the wire first, take an impression, and then fabricate the thermoplastic retainer.
